Step into the Battle Against Climate Change
The scientific jury is in and here's the verdict:
We have to act together now to limit our effect on the world's climate. Climate change is real, but by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions we can make a difference.
Each of us is responsible for carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere - 20 tons a year, in fact, for the average person. From the cars we drive to the lights in our homes to the heat in our buildings, our everyday lives contribute to the creation of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
While there's no way to avoid these impacts completely, we can take steps to reduce our "environmental footprint" by using less energy and offsetting emissions from the rest.
Reduce energy use. There are simple ways you can reduce your homes energy use, ranging from weatherization measures to upgrading to more efficient equipment. Visit the Energy Trust of Oregon for information and incentives that will help reduce your home's energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
Offset the rest. Once you've done all you can to reduce the emissions caused by your energy use, Smart Energy gives Oregon customers an easy way to offset the rest.
